Kimi Antonelli explained in more detail the damage his car suffered when he went off the track during the first phase of the Sprint qualifying for the Dutch GP of Formula 1, held this Friday (21).

The championship leader will start only from fifth position after struggling with his car throughout the session due to damage to the floor. This happened after going off the track at the penultimate corner on his very first flying lap.
“I got some holes in the floor [after going off track]. So, when I returned to the pits, they initially said there was a loss of 25 downforce points. They tried to fix it as much as possible, but the damage was still there. I had a lot of difficulty at low speed. It is what it is,” he told Sky Sports.

“I entered the last corner of that first lap with a bit too much speed; I lost the rear and went through the gravel. That was basically it. Obviously, it wasn’t easy to regain confidence, but I still stayed at a reasonable distance, and we will try again tomorrow. We will try to make the best race possible. Obviously, the fight at the front is very tight, so it won’t be easy to overtake, but we will try our best, even with the damage. Then, for qualifying, we will adjust the car and try again,” he continued.
