David Coulthard highlighted that Kimi Antonelli’s closeness to his family is a very useful tool for the longevity of his career in Formula 1.
The former driver drew a parallel with the relationship between Max Verstappen and his father Jos, who is constantly seen alongside the four-time world champion during weekends. With the young Italian, the situation is similar, with his father Marco also accompanying him during the GPs.
“The kid is impressive and I think another important point is the family’s communication, the way they handle the races. They have their feet on the ground, and I think that is something Max also has, as well as others, of course,” he said on the Up to Speed podcast.

“But that will guarantee him longevity in his career. He is not the type to win the lottery and let success go to his head. They have a stable life. They live in San Marino. They have their comfort, in a small principality. I really believe in this longevity,” he continued.
“Congratulations to Kimi Antonelli. Congratulations to Mercedes for supporting him and maintaining confidence in him during what was an interesting, although not spectacular, first season in F1. But clearly, it served as a good foundation,” he concluded.
