Fernando Alonso would have set a financial demand to continue in Formula 1 after 2026. According to journalist Marc Limacher, the Spaniard intends to receive around 40 million euros per season in a new contract with Aston Martin.

The information was disclosed by the author of Business Book GP, a publication dedicated to the financial backstage of the category. Currently, Alonso would receive approximately 30 million euros per year from the Silverstone team, and the new contract would be valid for 2027 and 2028.
If the amount is confirmed, the two-time world champion would start receiving an amount similar to Charles Leclerc’s. The Ferrari driver would also have estimated earnings of about 40 million euros annually after his most recent renewal, according to estimates.
Despite the possible salary negotiation, money would not be the main factor for Alonso to decide his future. According to the newspaper MARCA, the Spaniard is especially interested in knowing if Aston Martin will be able to offer a competitive car in the coming years, besides considering the increasingly long F1 calendar and his possibilities of fighting for prominent positions.

A decision is expected near the category’s return after the August break, during the week of the Dutch GP in Zandvoort. Alonso, however, has already publicly stated that he does not intend to set a deadline to make the decision.
Behind the scenes, the perception is that the Spaniard’s stay at Aston Martin would be the most likely scenario. Still without official confirmation, people connected to the paddock believe that the agreement is underway and that only the official announcement is missing, while a possible renewal for the cited values would place Alonso among the highest-paid drivers on the current grid of the category.
