Aston Martin will lose one of its most experienced names at the end of the season. According to Planet F1, Tom McCullough will leave the team after 13 years of service. So far, it is still unclear who will take over his duties, or even if the team will choose to appoint a direct replacement.

The change comes after a series of internal restructurings started in 2024. With Andy Cowell’s promotion to team principal, replacing Mike Krack, the British engineer began to absorb much of the responsibilities that previously belonged to McCullough. Since then, the professional has remained in the organization as director of performance at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, overseeing various projects in the following months.

McCullough held the position of performance director of the Formula 1 team between 2018 and the end of 2024. During this period, he became a key figure in the team’s technical structure, being responsible for optimizing the car setup throughout race weekends.

Tom McCullough’s journey with the team began in 2014, when the squad still competed under the name Force India. He stayed through the entire transformation to Racing Point and later Aston Martin, establishing himself as one of the longest-serving professionals at the Silverstone-based team.

Before starting his tenure at then Force India, McCullough worked at Williams as race engineer for Brazilian Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg. He then had a brief stint at Sauber during the 2013 season.
