Alexander Albon assessed the current situation of Williams and pointed out that the team will still wait some more time before returning to the front part of the Formula 1 pack.

The Grove-based team has suffered a very complicated first half of 2026 with the regulation change. Already at the shakedown in Barcelona, it was absent due to excess weight in the car, and in the season, it has scored only 11 points in 11 contested rounds.
“Definitely, the feeling is that we have regressed two or three years. When you look at last year and think: ‘how long will it take for us to become a top team?’… maybe I was optimistic, but I really thought that, in 2027, we could start fighting for consistent podiums and, who knows, occasional wins, leaving the midfield pack to fight with those four teams,” he said.

“I really consider that there has been a regression when analyzing where we are this year. Partly, this is due to our delay and the fact that we are at a disadvantage, but the situation was highlighted by this regulation change. This exposed some of the bottlenecks that also affect other teams, and we realize that there are bigger issues we need to change — something we are already fixing,” he continued.
“But it is frustrating for all of us. It is a shared frustration: that we will simply have to continue on this journey for some more time,” he concluded.
