António Félix da Costa is one of Max Verstappen’s close friends off the track. Always seen together during holiday and rest periods, the Portuguese spoke more about his relationship with the four-time Formula 1 world champion.

Currently, the competitor races in Formula E, where he was champion, as well as having a victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and also having won the World Endurance Championship.
However, despite having been part of the Red Bull Academy, he never made it to F1 – but managed to create a very close relationship with Max. “As Max grew up and became the superstar he is today, we kind of maintained that dynamic. Max is special, in a good way. It’s impressive to see what he has become and the person he continues to be,” he said.

“I know many people think he is arrogant, or any other word they want to use to describe him. But, to be honest, he is just a straightforward person. Many other drivers have a double personality, and Max is the opposite of that. That’s why I respect this trait a lot,” he continued.
“I love that about him. He is a four-time world champion now. But you hardly notice it; he treats you as if he were not yet a world champion,” he concluded.
