Alexander Albon spoke about Williams’ situation in the 2026 Formula 1 season and pointed out how the team is making the greatest effort he has ever seen to fix persistent problems.

Before the start of the year, the FW48 was already facing issues of being above the regulatory weight. Now, in the races, both Albon and Carlos Sainz are suffering from the team’s lack of performance on tracks with medium to high-speed corners and constant radius layouts, examples being Barcelona and Hungary.
“We know the car’s weaknesses, we know the direction [we need to take], and the work done at the factory represents the biggest effort I have ever seen from the team to combat these genetic DNA problems. I think we are doing exactly the right things to get back on track; it’s a shame we got to this situation, but I believe we are on the right path — although I doubt everything will be solved by Baku,” he said.
“I think much of what we will see in Baku is already set; this update was planned a long time ago, and much of our current focus is already on next year’s car. It’s about ensuring that next season’s car does not have these characteristics,” he continued.

Speaking about the problems he faced at the Hungarian GP, he pointed out that “I was very affected by the wind and, honestly, in terms of driving, it’s frustrating because I can’t drive the way I want.”
“Actually, the team is not getting the best out of me because I have to drive well below the limit. There are gusts, the wind… you try to push the pace — I think there were six laps in the race where the wind stabilized and I finally managed to adjust and get into rhythm, but then the wind picks up again and you go back to that cycle of feeling like you’re making mistakes when you actually aren’t. You are driving at the same points, doing the same things, but consistency is simply lacking,” he concluded.
