Lando Norris, 2025 season champion, gave hints about his retirement from Formula 1 and highlighted the motivation for the new season during an interview in Melbourne.

The 26-year-old McLaren driver revealed that his pre-season period was the most intense of his entire career: “I probably trained and prepared more this pre-season than I ever had, so it definitely wasn’t a period of relaxation or parties. It was exactly the opposite. Therefore, no, I am still as hungry for victory as before,” he stated.
Norris also commented on the desire to win even more titles, despite having already achieved an important milestone in his career: “I think it only increased my desire, because you feel the same thing when you achieve a victory and immediately want another. For me, it was the same with the championship. This title is incredible, but you undoubtedly want to win the second one,” he added.

Asked about when he intends to leave Formula 1, Norris was clear in saying that he will only retire when he feels he can no longer compete at the highest level: “By no means early. I would still find it impossible to go to the track without doing everything I can to win. I would be embarrassed if it weren’t like that. So, when that moment comes, I will retire from Formula 1. But until then, I will always do everything in my power to win, and winning the championship last year only increased that desire even more for this year,” he completed.
With these statements, Norris reinforces that his priority remains the pursuit of victories and titles, maintaining total focus on the 2026 season, even after achieving the first title of his career last year.
