Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed that Malaysia will host the 2026 Bahrain GP at the Sepang International Circuit. The race will be held between October 2 and 4, between the Azerbaijan and Singapore GPs.

The event will officially be named the Bahrain GP in Malaysia and is still subject to final agreements, official signing, and approval from the World Motor Sport Council. The rest of the 2026 calendar remains unchanged, while information on ticket sales will be released later.
The agreement was reached between F1, the FIA, and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia, allowing a race that would otherwise not be held to be preserved. “We are very happy to confirm that Malaysia will host the Bahrain GP in 2026. Once again, the sport has demonstrated its ability to adapt, find solutions, and deliver,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized that safety was treated as a priority throughout the process. “The FIA, Formula One Management, and our partners in Bahrain worked tirelessly to explore all options, with the safety and well-being of teams, volunteers, officials, colleagues, and fans remaining our highest priority,” explained the president of the organization.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, stated that the country is prepared to host the category again in Sepang. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, declared that holding the race in Malaysia represents the country’s permanent commitment to Formula 1. The event will be held at a circuit known for exciting races, unpredictable weather, and a strong public presence.
