Gabriel Bortoleto finished in Q2 and will start 14th in the Formula 1 Hungarian GP. In qualifying held this Saturday (25), the Brazilian set a lap of 1min19s105 to line up only on the seventh row of the grid.

For qualifying, the weather was quite hot at Hungaroring. The sun was shining in the circuit area, the thermometer read 27ºC and the asphalt reached 49ºC, while the humidity was around 23%.
The clock started and Bortoleto would have 18 minutes to place himself among the 16 fastest to enter Q2. In the first few minutes, he remained in the Audi garage.
With 12 minutes remaining on the clock, the Brazilian had not yet left the German team’s garage, nor had Nico Hülkenberg. But moments later, he finally went out for the first time.
For the first laps, the driver of car #5 was on soft tires and with just over eight minutes remaining, he completed his first fast lap and placed himself eighth with 1min19s476, just 0s006 slower than Nico Hülkenberg, who was seventh.
However, Bortoleto’s lap was deleted due to track limits at turn 4, dropping him to last position. Subsequently, he went to the pits to check the floor.
With just under two minutes remaining, Gabriel started his only attempt at a fast lap. When he finished, he placed himself in ninth position with 1min19s069, his best time of the weekend so far. Nico was 12th, but soon moved up to sixth.

In the end, the Audi duo managed to advance both to Q2, having another 15 minutes to place themselves among the ten fastest to go to Q3.
The clock started and the pitlane was open, but initially, there was little movement.
As he was on his first fast lap, Isack Hadjar spun and caused a yellow flag, which hampered his attempt, and he returned to the pits at that moment. There were still 9 minutes left on the clock.
With four minutes remaining, Bortoleto went out and was on an installation lap before setting his fast lap. The time to beat was Fernando Alonso’s, tenth, with 1min20s696.
When he completed his attempt, the Brazilian only moved up to ninth place, but was soon dropped to 11th place.
In the end, Gabriel Bortoleto only secured 14th place on the starting grid and will start from the seventh row in the Hungarian GP. The race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 26, at 10 am Brasília time.
