Ferrari arrives at the Formula 1 Hungarian GP next weekend, boosted by a positive streak, and Fred Vasseur believes the circuit can favor the SF-26’s performance. Still, the head of the Italian team made it clear that the track characteristics alone will not be enough to guarantee a good result.

After two weekends considered encouraging, the Maranello team tries to maintain momentum before the mid-season break in August. The Hungaroring circuit hosts the 11th round of 2026, offering a technical layout with high-flow corners that, in Vasseur’s view, better suit Ferrari’s current car.
The team’s recovery gained strength after Lewis Hamilton’s victory in Barcelona. Subsequently, Charles Leclerc won at Silverstone and returned to the podium at the Belgian GP, finishing in second position at Spa-Francorchamps.
Vasseur highlighted that the recent results were the fruit of the collective work carried out by Ferrari in the last races. According to him, the achieved performance increases internal confidence, but does not change the fact that each stage presents its own challenges.
“We are going to Budapest after two encouraging weekends, in which we managed to maximize our result thanks to a great team effort. This gives us confidence, but we also know that each GP presents its own challenge. In theory, the Hungaroring may suit the characteristics of our car a little better, but that, in itself, is no guarantee,” said the Ferrari boss.

The Frenchman also highlighted that execution will be decisive throughout the weekend: “As always, execution will make the difference, as we have to approach the weekend with the same concentration, discipline and attention to detail that we have demonstrated in the last two races,” he added.
Vasseur also spoke about the internal atmosphere at Ferrari and the support of the Italian fans: “We have a united team, two highly motivated drivers, and we know we can count on the support of all our tifosi. Our goal is to continue moving in the same direction, working well from Friday to put ourselves in the best possible position in qualifying and the race,” he concluded.
Despite the optimism for 2026, Ferrari holds frustrating memories from its last visit to the Hungaroring. Last year, Leclerc started from pole position but finished only fourth, while Hamilton started from 12th position and failed to gain positions during the race.
