The seven-time world champion caused double yellow flags in the final minutes of the third free practice, after losing control of the car at turn 13. The incident was very similar to the crash involving Pierre Gasly on Friday, raising immediate doubts about Hamilton’s participation for the rest of the day.
Despite the impact, the Italian team assessed the damage and concluded that the car could return to the track without major issues.
The SF-26 suffered damage to the floor, rear suspension, and wing after the crash. Still, the damage was not considered severe enough to compromise the British driver’s weekend progression.
