The Dutchman from Red Bull has been in the motorsport spotlight for his adventure in the world of GT racing. In fact, in May, the four-time champion made his debut in the Nürburgring 24 Hours and came close to victory, but a technical problem took away his chances.
Recalling his multi-champion F1 friend, Hopkins drew a parallel between both drivers. “This is where there is probably a bit of Michael in Max, in the sense that I think Michael could have driven anything. Michael was an incredible talent. We say he could drive a milk truck at high speed, and that’s what Max demonstrates,” he told Crash.net.

“I’m not sure if all the young drivers in Formula 1 have that ability, like Jim Clark and Stirling Moss did many years ago, to be in a Lotus Cortina one week, the next minute be in Germany racing in Formula 2, the next be in the United States competing in an Indy race and so on. I don’t know if many drivers have that same flexibility, skill, or desire,” he continued.

Some Formula 1 drivers have tried rally cars, and invariably haven’t had much success. So, having the courage to do that is quite bold.
