Otmar Szafnauer has taken on a new challenge within motorsport. The former Alpine Formula 1 team principal has been announced as the new CEO and managing partner of Van Amersfoort Racing.

The executive spent years in F1 leading midfield teams to success, becoming a notable name in the category. At Force India, for example, his leadership showed transformation, especially for a team with a tight budget.
Parting ways once Lawrence Stroll took over the team at Aston Martin, Szafnauer then moved to Alpine, where he found more challenges as team principal. The divorce from the French team came at the 2024 Belgian GP, moving away from the paddock for good.

Now, Otmar has found a new challenge within motorsport by taking command of the Van Amersfoort Racing team, present in feeder series such as Formula 2, Formula 3, Italian Formula 4, and Formula Regional European.
“Van Amersfoort Racing has a solid reputation for developing talent and competing at a high level in various categories. I look forward to working closely with the leadership team and the entire organization to guide the next phase of the team’s development,” he commented.
