Hamilton achieved sequences of five consecutive wins in the 2014 and 2020 seasons, years in which he won, respectively, his second and seventh world titles. Now, Antonelli is just one result away from equaling the Briton’s personal record for the German team. The young Italian is experiencing a dominant moment in the championship. He won the races in China, Japan, Miami, and Canada, building a 43-point lead over George Russell in the standings.
The gap to his teammate increased after the Canadian round. Russell was leading the race when he had to retire due to an engine failure, allowing Antonelli to extend his advantage in Mercedes’ internal battle.
