Max Verstappen can now breathe a sigh of relief regarding his penalty points situation in Formula 1. After going through tough times throughout 2025, he has a clean ‘license’ and is not under the threat of a race suspension.

At last year’s Spanish GP, after a safety car restart, the Dutchman collided with George Russell. Besides being penalized with time, he was also given three points, bringing a total of 11. With 12, the competitor is required to miss the next race.
Penalty points are removed from the competitor’s license after a period of 12 months from when they were issued. The crash with the Mercedes rival happened on June 1, 2025, so they have already been removed from the Red Bull driver’s license.

Since the race in Barcelona, Verstappen has not received any more penalty points and as a result, he is one of nine drivers on the grid with a clean license.
