McLaren will celebrate at the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1 taking place this weekend. On Monday (1st), the team announced that it will bring a special livery in celebration of the 1000th Grand Prix in its history.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will race a livery adorned with the papaya color in a metallic orange tone, further complemented by anthracite details. The design references the team’s history in the category, honoring important milestones including the first race, victories, and championship wins, as well as the Triple Crown and world pit-stop record.
Not only that, the pair of drivers will also wear special overalls, following the same paint scheme as the cars.
The colors symbolize the message ‘McLaren Never Gives Up’. Reaching the milestone of 1000 GPs in Formula 1, the livery will be present on the streets of Monaco and also at the Spanish GP.
On Thursday, June 4th, the team continues the celebrations with a special moment on the grid of the Monaco Circuit, where the team’s first car, the M2B, from Richard Mille, will line up alongside the MCL40, this season’s car. CEO Zak Brown, team principal Andrea Stella, as well as Norris and Piastri, will join McLaren GP winners throughout its history, with all living winners invited, along with the president and CEO of F1, Stefano Domenicali.

About the celebration, Brown said that “lining up on the grid to contest McLaren’s 1000th GP in Monaco this year is the perfect opportunity to recognize our rich motorsport history. We are only the second team to reach this incredible milestone, so there is no better time to reflect on our past, our present, and our future.”
“Throughout our journey, this team has always shown courage and determination, both in times of success and in the most difficult moments. McLaren never gives up, and this special livery, along with Thursday’s event, is a special way to celebrate how much we have evolved. We look forward to seeing it on track and to recognizing everything we have achieved since our first race, here in Monaco, in 1966, up to the present day. Here’s to another 1000,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Norris pointed out that “it’s a very special weekend for us as we are celebrating such an incredible milestone. The livery looks fantastic, and there is no better place to celebrate this than one of the most iconic races on the calendar and the location of the team’s first Grand Prix. Having played my small part in McLaren’s incredible history is something I am very proud of. McLaren was a team I admired when I was younger, and it is an honor to represent the men and women who are part of this team on its 1000th GP.”
Finally, Piastri added that “I’m excited to get on track with this very special livery. Reaching 1000 GPs is a huge achievement for the team, and it’s a privilege to be there representing McLaren on this occasion. The car looks amazing, and it seems fitting that this celebration takes place exactly where the team contested its first Championship race, 60 years ago. We will do everything we can to push as hard as possible and try to win a trophy this weekend to mark this moment. Here’s to 1000 GPs — I hope to race for McLaren for many more years.”
