Cadillac denied any possibility of replacing Valtteri Bottas in the upcoming races of the 2026 Formula 1 season. The team principal, Graeme Lowdon, described as unfounded the rumors suggesting a possible swap of the Finn for the American driver Colton Herta.
The speculations gained strength after a difficult start to the season for Bottas, who has been struggling to keep up with the performance of his teammate, Sergio Pérez.
However, Lowdon was categorical in denying any movement in this regard.
“There is no basis of truth in these rumors,” said the manager during a conversation with journalists before the Monaco GP.
The Cadillac chief also highlighted that part of the speculations ignores a fundamental aspect of the Formula 1 regulations: Herta currently does not have enough points to obtain an FIA super license.
“Some rumors suggest that we would put Colton in the car already in the next races. Colton does not have enough points for a super license. That probably says it all about the quality of some of these speculations,” he said.

Herta is one of the names frequently associated with Cadillac since the announcement of the team’s entry into Formula 1. The American driver built his career in IndyCar and is considered one of the most promising talents in American motorsport.
Despite this, Lowdon made it clear that the team continues to trust its current driver duo and does not consider changes in the short term.
The statement also reinforces the stability of Cadillac’s project in its debut season in Formula 1. The team has been betting on the experience of Pérez and Bottas to accelerate its development process and accumulate important data in building its structure within the championship.
With the matter publicly closed by the team’s management, the expectation now turns to Cadillac’s performance on the streets of Monaco, where both Pérez and Bottas have a history of good results throughout their careers.
