Zak Brown came out in defense of the current Formula 1 rules after criticism from drivers about the difficulty in wheel-to-wheel battles. The McLaren CEO stated that, despite internal complaints, the spectacle seen by the public remains positive and competitive, especially after the Canadian GP.

In Montreal, some fights drew a lot of attention both in the Sprint and on Sunday. First, Kimi Antonelli and George Russell fought intensely for the lead, while Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton also revived the rivalry for the second position on the podium.
And after the races, the drivers pointed out that there is still work to be done especially with the engines. Brown, however, assessed that the scenario is different for those who watch the races on television. “The races are great. If you don’t listen to the drivers and just watch on TV, the product is excellent.”

“We had overtakes, five different leaders in Miami and battles for the lead. I think the fans are watching and thinking: ‘This race was very exciting’,” he added.
For Brown, the current moment represents just a phase of adaptation to the new rules and technologies of the category. “We already saw in Miami that the drivers are more used to this and the rules are being refined. Maybe it will never be perfect, but there has always been rules and tire management, now there is also battery management,” he concluded.
