Formula 1 takes a break this weekend. After the Canadian GP, the category takes a short break before heading to one of the most traditional and awaited stages of the calendar: the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, which will be held from June 5 to 7, on the streets of the Principality.

The 2026 season has presented a different calendar than usual. The cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GPs, scheduled for April, due to the war in the Middle East, altered the original sequence of the championship and reduced the number of stages held so far. As a result, the Monaco GP officially takes the place of the sixth stage of the season.
The championship arrives at the Principality at an important moment in the title fight. The big highlight of the beginning of the year has been the Italian Kimi Antonelli, who is going through an impressive phase. The Mercedes driver won the last four races held and opened a lead in the championship, consolidating himself as the man to beat at this point in the season.
Monaco represents a completely different challenge from the more recent circuits. Considered the narrowest and most technical layout in Formula 1, the street circuit demands absolute precision from the drivers, with walls close throughout almost the entire course and very few overtaking opportunities. Therefore, qualifying usually has even greater importance than in other stages of the championship.

Besides the tradition and glamour characteristic of the event, this year’s race will be another test for the teams amid the new technical era of Formula 1, which debuted in 2026 and has already undergone regulatory adjustments after the first races of the season.
