At 41 years old, Lewis Hamilton took the first step toward his 20th season in Formula 1 by taking stock of his own journey. In a social media post, the seven-time champion stated he is “still standing, still hungry, still focused on the dream. Holding nothing back,” while reflecting on the “incredible highs and brutal lows” experienced throughout his career.

With 380 GPs contested, 105 wins, 104 poles and seven world titles, the Briton went through the most difficult year of his career in 2025. He became the first Ferrari driver in 44 years not to stand on the podium in his first full season with the team. This was also the first time in his F1 journey that he did not finish among the top three in a race.
In the message, accompanied by photos of significant moments from these 20 years, Hamilton recalled the beginning of the journey. “It all started with a dream. A dream that some called ridiculous and said would lead to nothing,” he wrote. “Despite this, the dream never changed, and I never stopped chasing it.”

The driver also mentioned winning his seventh title in 2020 and losing what could have been his eighth championship to Max Verstappen in 2021, in addition to the difficulties with ground-effect cars since 2022. “There will always be people who doubt you, people who try to block you, but you can never stop fighting,” he stated. He concluded with a direct message to the critics: “I am grateful for the naysayers and also for those who tried to bring me down. I am still here, 20 years later.”
