Lewis Hamilton confirmed that he will no longer use Ferrari’s simulator for the rest of the season, after finishing second at the Canadian GP on Sunday (24). The decision was initially made after sixth place at this year’s Miami GP, but now the seven-time world champion has reiterated his new approach until the end of the 2026 season:

“If you look at the two best races I did, I didn’t use the simulator. That’s just how it is, honestly. In all previous championships, except maybe 2008, I didn’t use the simulator. It’s not a necessity. It’s a tool that can be powerful, but for me, I’m old school. I’m probably better without it.”
He added that he still sees value in the tool for the team, but not for his personal preparation. “The upside of being able to drive the real car is to go back and say: this is how it really feels, these are the things that are missing, so we can improve. […] Now, if I’m going to use it to prepare for another race, probably not. There are too many risks.”

Hamilton described the weekend in Montreal as “incredible” and highlighted Ferrari’s internal work in search of a setup more suited to his style. One of the most memorable moments of the race was the duel with Max Verstappen, recalling the historic rivalry between the two world champions.
