Racing Bulls left the Canadian Formula 1 GP with reasons to celebrate, after Liam Lawson secured seventh place in a challenging race in Montreal. The result placed the team in sixth position in the constructors’ championship, boosting confidence for the European leg of the season.

After a difficult start to the weekend, Lawson managed to turn the race into an important result for the team. Even facing balance issues with the car and lack of speed at times, the New Zealand driver held off pressure at the end of the race to finish in the points zone.
“After a complicated start to the weekend, finishing seventh is definitely a good result for us,” said Lawson. The driver explained that one of the biggest challenges was keeping the tires at the ideal temperature during the race, something that only happened during laps at maximum pace.
Lawson also highlighted the strong pressure from Pierre Gasly in the final laps. According to him, Alpine had more pace in Canada, especially in the latter part of the race: “Pierre didn’t make it easy for me at the end when I was on soft tires, so I’m happy to have been able to defend my position,” he commented.
While Lawson celebrated the points, Arvid Lindblad had a frustrating Sunday without even being able to start. The driver faced a clutch problem during the formation lap, which prevented engaging first gear on the starting grid.

Lindblad continued: “I was very excited to drive in these mixed conditions, so not having the chance to race is obviously disappointing,” he lamented. Despite the frustration, the young driver highlighted that the weekend had been positive up to that point and praised the performance of the updates brought by the team to Canada.
The team principal, Alan Permane, praised Lawson’s defensive performance during the race: “Liam had an impressive race, even though we weren’t as fast as Alpine. He gave a real lesson in defense against a clearly faster car,” said the manager.
Permane also highlighted the good performance of the car in low-speed corners and stated that the updates showed positive results. With the next round being held in Monaco, a circuit dominated precisely by slow corners, Racing Bulls believes it can maintain the good momentum and continue scoring important points in the championship.
