Max Verstappen spoke again about a possible farewell from Formula 1 at the end of the 2026 season after a disappointing qualifying for the Canadian GP this Saturday (23).

For the race this Sunday, the 23rd, the Dutchman will start only from sixth place, ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar. Repeating his dissatisfaction on the radio several times, he still finished the session 0.3 seconds behind George Russell’s pole position.
Speaking after the qualifying session in Montreal, the Red Bull driver stated that if the situation continues as it is, he may reconsider his future in F1. “If it continues like this, next year will be long, which I don’t want. I can say that if it continues like this, we’ll see what happens,” he said.

“Mentally, it is simply unsustainable for me to continue at this pace. Really. If you stop, it’s over. There’s no turning back. It’s a difficult decision to make… There are many other fun things out there,” he added.
