The competitor started from 12th position in Montreal, but when the lights went out he dropped to 17th – Nico Hülkenberg also lost positions. Therefore, over the 23 laps, he had to climb all over again to finish exactly in the same position he started.
In an interview after the race, the Brazilian from Audi in Formula 1 lamented the problems at the beginning of the race and how this makes it difficult to achieve a more competitive result. “It’s no surprise that we struggle at starts, it has been like this since Melbourne, we always lose four, five, six positions depending on who starts behind us,” he told SporTV.

“The thing is that our car, for one lap, is a car that works. Even as race pace it is a good car. The problem is that, man, when you lose six positions at the start, five positions at the start, to recover that you have to destroy your tires, overtake everyone, which is not easy, you also take many risks. But it’s no surprise,” he continued.
“Today’s race only showed the situation we are in at the moment, which is good race pace, but we don’t start well, and good qualifying pace too, but many times we have one problem or another. Let’s see what we can get in qualifying. Let’s go for it,” he concluded.
