Stefano Domenicali left satisfied with the show presented by Formula 1 at the Miami GP, highlighting the evolution of the races after the recent adjustments to the 2026 regulations. The category’s CEO described the race in the United States as ‘truly wonderful’ and stated that F1 is experiencing a positive moment both on and off the track.

The Miami stage saw another victory by Kimi Antonelli this year, and featured more intense battles throughout the race. The recent rule changes helped reduce criticism of the artificial behavior of the races in the early stages of the season.
According to the Italian executive, the Miami GP showed a more natural and competitive Formula 1. Unlike the first three races of the championship, the race featured several overtakes completed at braking points, without relying excessively on speed differences caused by energy management and battery use.
Domenicali also highlighted the growing interest of the North American public in the category. The executive spoke about the positive impact of the event in an interview with Sky Sport and stated that Formula 1 continues to win new fans in the United States: “In a very particular weekend, because unfortunately the death of Alex Zanardi occurred, it was a truly wonderful GP,” said Domenicali. “People here in the United States are beginning to understand what Formula 1 is. There is an interest that shows the size of our sport, a sport that is always looking forward.”
The category’s CEO also commented on the criticism received at the start of the season regarding the new technical regulations. According to him, Formula 1 always goes through constant evolution processes and manages to respond to questions with improvements throughout the championship: “We are resilient. At the beginning everyone talks, but in the end there is always someone who needs to draw conclusions,” said the Italian.

Domenicali added that he feels proud to realize that the public understands not only the sporting competition between drivers, teams, and engineers, but also the entire dimension of entertainment that surrounds the category.
The executive acknowledged that the regulations will continue to evolve along with the needs of Formula 1: “The rules are what they are and there is constant evolution, but this has always been part of Formula 1. We try to consider changes and trends together with all involved parties, but at this moment we are focused on the fact that the races are really exciting,” he added.
Finally, Domenicali stated that the category is already turning its attention to the next stage of the season, the Canadian GP: “We will see what happens at the next race in Montreal, that is our focus now, but I am happy with the moment we are currently living,” he concluded.
