Formula 1 had a twist at the 2026 Miami GP with the disqualification of Isack Hadjar. The Red Bull driver lost his result after a technical irregularity detected by the FIA.

The decision directly impacts the starting grid, as Hadjar had secured ninth position. With the penalty, all drivers behind him move up one place for the race.
The Frenchman’s car failed the technical inspections after the qualifying session. The FIA identified that parts of the floor, both on the left and right sides, exceeded the limits allowed by the regulations by 2mm.
Given the infraction, the stewards applied the standard penalty for this type of irregularity. “The representatives of car 6’s team did not contest the technical delegate’s findings that parts of the floor were 2mm outside the reference volume,” the FIA stated in a release.

The body also highlighted that the failure constitutes a direct violation of the category’s technical rules. “This represents a breach of Article C3.5.5 of the Formula 1 regulations, and the usual consequences are applied in case of admitted infraction,” it added.
With Hadjar’s exclusion, Red Bull loses an important position on the grid, while the rest of the pack gains an extra opportunity to advance in the Miami race.
