Antonelli had already received a black and white flag warning for repeated infractions. On the fourth violation, the stewards applied a five-second penalty, which dropped him to sixth place in the final race classification.

With the change, George Russell and Max Verstappen each inherited a position and advanced in the result. The adjustment also had an effect on the standings, as the leader failed to extend the advantage to ten points.
Now Antonelli has 75 points against Russell’s 68, maintaining the lead but with a reduced margin at this point in the 2026 Formula 1 season.
