McLaren started the Miami Grand Prix weekend well, with Lando Norris securing pole position and Oscar Piastri celebrating third place in SQ3, with the Australian highlighting the car’s progress with the new package.

The result reinforces the British team’s good form at the start of the weekend, especially after a day when competitors showed strength. Even so, the Australian believes there is room for improvement before the next sessions.

“I am happy with that. The car showed good potential, which was very good to see,” said Piastri. He highlighted that the updates brought concrete progress. “We still have things to improve, but the new package is a good step,” he said, thanking the team’s work.

Piastri also made a point of recognizing the performance of his teammate, Lando Norris, who secured pole for the Sprint race. According to the Australian, the result was not a matter of luck: “It wasn’t luck today, the potential is there,” he added.

The McLaren driver also analyzed the scenario among direct competitors. He pointed to Ferrari as strong throughout the day and considered third place a good result in this context. He also mentioned Mercedes as a threat, although without the expected dominance so far.

With focus on the Sprint race, Piastri stated that the team intends to use the collected data to seek more performance. After that, attention will be directed to the qualifying session for Sunday’s GP.
