Formula 1 may gain a new chapter in the title fight in 2026. For Martin Brundle, Ferrari should make a performance leap already at the Miami GP this coming weekend.

This expectation increases in light of a possible balance between the three main teams on the grid. According to the analysis of the former F1 driver and current commentator, Ferrari and McLaren have the potential to pressure Mercedes, which dominated the start of the season.
The German team has won all the races and secured all the poles so far, but faced greater resistance in Japan. On that occasion, Oscar Piastri even led and remained competitive, while George Russell tried to respond. Still, there are doubts whether Mercedes had enough pace to win without interference.
Brundle believes Ferrari can evolve especially in the use of the power unit and the overall efficiency of the car: “I think we will see many changes in Miami and throughout the upcoming races. Ferrari will find a lot of performance and improve the car a lot,” he said.

The commentator also highlighted McLaren’s growth and the expected response from Mercedes, projecting an open fight: “The top three teams will have an absolutely intense battle, and Ferrari will be in it. Mercedes will not stand still, and the other two are coming up,” Brundle concluded.
With updates planned for several teams already at the Miami race, including a robust package from Ferrari, this weekend’s round could mark a turning point in the 2026 season.
