Formula 1 is closely monitoring the storm forecast for the Miami GP, which could directly impact Sunday’s race. Despite the alert, the FIA states it is prepared to handle possible schedule changes.

The concern arises because there is a risk of heavy rain and electrical storms at the start time. According to United States legislation, outdoor events must be interrupted in case of lightning risk, which can directly affect the holding of the race.
Furthermore, the presence of storms would prevent the operation of the medical helicopter, a mandatory condition for activities on the track. Without this resource available, any Formula 1 session must be automatically suspended for safety reasons.
Even so, the FIA tries to reassure the situation and guarantees that it already has defined alternatives. “We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for this weekend,” said a spokesperson for the entity, highlighting constant attention to weather conditions.

The federation also recalled similar situations already faced in the Miami stage itself. “We have a contingency plan and will activate it if necessary to minimize any disruption to the track program,” added the representative.
Internally, the expectation is still that the race will take place normally at the scheduled time. However, if the weather worsens, the FIA may change the start time, as has happened before in other Formula 1 stages.
