The Australian led much of the season and even opened a comfortable lead, but saw his teammate react and win the championship in the final stage. Even with tense moments on the track, the relationship between the two did not deteriorate, something he considers fundamental for the team’s future.
Piastri highlighted that the internal environment remained stable despite the pressure: “We get a lot of questions about our relationship as teammates. But actually, I think it was even better at the end of the year than at the beginning, because we already knew each other better,” he said. He emphasized that both were clear about the direct fight for the title, but without letting the rivalry cross limits.

The driver also admitted that the situation could have escalated quickly: “It never got ugly, and that was very important. It would have been easy for the situation to get out of control, and maybe even raise doubts about the future of one of us in the team,” he said. According to him, preserving the internal dynamic was a priority to avoid long-term damage.
Even amid the fight for the championship, Piastri said that the exchange of information continued normally. For him, trying to hide data could harm his own performance. The Australian now returns to the track in Miami next weekend, after finishing second in Suzuka, confident in maintaining the team’s good momentum.
