Pierre Gasly showed confidence in Alpine in Formula 1 in 2026 and even suggested that the French team could even pressure McLaren and Ferrari after the mid-year summer break.

The team sacrificed the 2025 championship to focus resources and attention on the regulation change for this championship. So far, after three rounds, it has scored 15 points, occupying fifth position in the Constructors’ World Championship.
Now, after the April break where some teams took advantage to make adjustments to their cars, the calendar resumes with the Miami GP, but Gasly set the summer break as the goal for Alpine to take the next step in Formula 1.

“It’s not going to happen in a month. But I would like to see us, after the summer break, as a more competitive team in the McLaren and Ferrari group. [In Japan], it was seven seconds in 28 laps, [so] we are talking about three or four tenths [per lap]. That’s where we need to focus. We know what we need to improve, which is good,” he said.
“We know we don’t need to worry about the engine, we have the best on the market. We just need to focus on our chassis and what we do. We have a good package, [but] we need to improve it,” he added.
