Jack Doohan still keeps alive the hope of one day returning to Formula 1. Out of the grid for the 2026 season, he stated that there is still a window to return to the paddock, more than just a wish.

The Australian raced few races with Alpine in the category – the last one of 2024 and the first six of 2025. Failing to deliver the necessary results, he ended up being dismissed for the arrival of Franco Colapinto. This year, however, he took on the role of reserve driver at Haas.
And Doohan is also splitting his time with the world of Endurance, as he will compete in the European Le Mans Series in the LMP2 class. But despite the new challenge, the son of multi-champion motorcyclist Mick still keeps the flame of Formula 1 alive.

“I definitely don’t rule out [racing in sports cars], and there have been some great opportunities to be in sports cars. But, to be transparent, Formula 1 is the ultimate goal, and right now there is still a good opportunity, not just a hope in the air. There is still a window,” he said.
“However, if that weren’t the case, it would be a good focus — you can have a great career in sports cars,” he added.
