Jenson Button has denied rumors about a possible change in the Sky Sports team that handles Formula 1 broadcasting. The former driver and 2009 F1 champion stated that he is not being prepared to replace fellow former driver Martin Brundle, putting an end to recent speculation.

The information emerged after a series of online reports about possible changes to the commentary team. Following the repercussions, Button decided to speak out publicly, reinforcing that Brundle remains a central figure in the broadcasts.
He used social media to clarify the situation and reject any possibility of taking his compatriot’s place: “I am not positioned to replace Martin, he is the man when it comes to commentary and analysis,” the Briton stated.
The former driver also explained that he prefers to maintain his current occasional participation in the broadcasts: “As much as I love taking part when Martin is taking a well-deserved break, I wouldn’t want to do more, as I already have a lot going on,” he added.
Brundle also responded to the speculation, labeling the rumors as “pure nonsense ‘clickbait’”. The commentator explained that he has maintained a schedule of being present at sixteen races for several years and will continue with this format during the 2026 season, alongside lead commentator David Croft.

Currently, Button serves as a commentator and analyst for Sky Sports F1, participating occasionally when Brundle is absent. Additionally, the Briton also plays the role of ambassador for the Aston Martin team in a long-term deal, contributing to commercial, media, and partner activities.
Outside of broadcasting, Button has been directing his attention to other areas. The former driver is involved in historic competitions, as well as various commercial ventures, including his own whisky brand.
Sky Sports confirmed its Formula 1 broadcast team for 2026 in March. In addition to Brundle, Croft and Ted Kravitz, the team includes specialist contributors such as Button, Bernie Collins, Jamie Chadwick, Nico Rosberg and Jacques Villeneuve.
