Jolyon Palmer has started to draw up scenarios for a possible departure of Max Verstappen from Red Bull. The former Formula 1 driver pointed out how the team should look beyond ‘its walls’ to choose a replacement.

Last week, the paddock was caught by surprise with the announcement of Gianpiero Lambiase’s departure. The Dutchman’s race engineer says goodbye to the Austrian team in 2028 to go to McLaren, following in the footsteps of Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay.
Now, the four-time champion also faces a decision: whether to stay with the team or leave Formula 1. And according to information from GP blog, it is understood that his stay at the multi-champion team is below other options within motorsport.

So, looking at the scenario, for Palmer, the best option would be to bring in Charles Leclerc. “If money were no object, probably Charles Leclerc. He has been at Ferrari for a long time, he is extremely talented. If Ferrari cannot show this year that it is capable of winning a title, I think he is someone who could be tempted to leave,” he told F1 Nation.
“Would he be tempted enough to go to Red Bull? I still think he has the potential for a title,” the Briton concluded.
