Ralf Schumacher gave an assessment of the announcement of Gianpiero Lambiase’s departure from Red Bull in 2028. The former Formula 1 driver pointed out that Max Verstappen could evaluate different outcomes for his future.

The current race engineer for the four-time champion has already agreed to move to McLaren. At the end of 2027, he will bid farewell to the Austrian team to join the British team the following year, taking on the role of head of racing.
In an interview with Sky Germany, Ralf pointed out the possibilities of the Dutchman thinking about leaving Red Bull or even retiring from Formula 1 for good.

“From my point of view, Max will orient himself differently next year. On the one hand, this could mean leaving Red Bull because he no longer believes in the team and quits for good, as he never tires of emphasizing how boring he considers his career in Formula 1,” he said.
“Or he goes to McLaren with his engineer, which would also mean that there are negotiations at McLaren for Oscar Piastri to go to Red Bull – something we have seen before,” he added.
