Yuki Tsunoda reflected on his 2025 Formula 1 season and the opportunity to move up to Red Bull. The driver acknowledged that if he had continued with Racing Bulls, he could have had one of the strongest campaigns of his career.

Last year, after just two races on the calendar, the Austrian team chose to make a change in its teams: it brought Liam Lawson back to Racing Bulls and promoted the Japanese driver to be Max Verstappen’s teammate.
The swap ended up working out somewhat, as the New Zealander managed to deliver some results, but Yuki did not adapt to Red Bull and was dismissed at the end of the year. Taking stock, he recognized that if he had stayed with his former team, he would have had a strong championship, but he could not pass up the opportunity to move up.

“In 2025, I had the best start to a season ever – I was 5th in qualifying in Australia and 6th in the sprint in China. It’s a car generation I spent three years in, and part of that, for sure, came from my DNA. I gave a lot of feedback, and the way the car was made was basically how I asked the team. It was an amazing car,” he said.
“If I had stayed at Racing Bulls, it probably would have been my best season, but at the same time, I had a good opportunity to go to Red Bull. It was the moment I had been waiting for – for a long time. It was also very, very special to be able to race at my home GP in Japan… Definitely the most remarkable moment of my life,” he added.
