Rumors about Liam Lawson’s participation in another category during the Formula 1 break in April have been dismissed by Racing Bulls. The team stated that Lawson will not compete in a Supercars round in New Zealand, despite recent speculation.

The possibility arose after the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs due to the war in the Middle East, which opened up space in the calendar and led some drivers to seek opportunities in other categories. However, Lawson will remain focused exclusively on his F1 commitments.
During this break, some names on the grid confirmed participations in other competitions. Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen, for example, is scheduled to compete in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring qualifiers next weekend, while Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll will participate in the GT World Challenge Europe round at Circuit Paul Ricard with an Aston Martin car.
In Australia, information emerged that Lawson could compete in the third round of the Repco Supercars Championship, which will be held in his home country, New Zealand. However, it was confirmed by the team that the Racing Bulls driver will not participate in the event.

The decision comes at a positive moment for the New Zealander in the 2026 Formula 1 season. Lawson had a consistent start and managed to score his first points during the Sprint race in China, showing competitiveness right in the early stages of the championship.
The good momentum continued in the following races, with the driver finishing in seventh place in the Chinese GP and ninth in the Japanese GP. These results currently place him in tenth position in the drivers’ championship, totaling ten points after the first rounds of the year.
Lawson also appears close to his former teammate, Verstappen, with only a two-point difference between them. The Formula 1 season will resume on the first weekend of May with the Miami GP, where the Racing Bulls driver will look to maintain his positive momentum.
