Aston Martin has shown it is on good terms with Honda even with the difficult start to the 2026 Formula 1 season, reinforcing that it does not need to ‘make peace’ with the engine supplier.

The British team has been plagued by a series of problems in the first races of the championship, which had contributions from the Japanese factory’s new power unit.
Despite the significant chassis vibration that could cause permanent damage to the drivers and led to retirements in Australia and China, Fernando Alonso finished the Japanese GP. And Mike Krack, team principal, insisted that the start of the year has not affected the relationship between Aston Martin and Honda.

“There was no need to make peace because we have a good relationship. We came here, we know this is our partner’s home race. We have a lot of respect for Honda and we saw how much work was put in to solve the problems we are facing,” he said.
“So, it was also a matter of respect on our part to try everything we could to finish the race. We discussed this before, as we will discuss in the coming weeks and so on. There is no need to make peace because there are no problems,” he added.
