In Shanghai, the Briton and the Monegasque started third and fourth, respectively. In the opening laps, they even threatened Mercedes, but soon the silver arrows caught up with them and disappeared at the front, and the fight began to get internal, with Lewis and Charles fighting for the last step of the podium.
In the end, the seven-time champion got the better of it, securing his first podium with Ferrari, while Leclerc finished fourth. A relief for Vasseur, as both cars crossed the finish line. “I have enormous respect for both. They are professionals and I think, in this situation, it makes sense to let them race,” he said.

“I know perfectly well that this can also look like complete stupidity half an hour later. But, in the end, I think it’s also the best way to build a team. We need this kind of emulation in the team to improve,” he continued.
“As long as it’s done as it was done today. In fact, a few times on the radio, they told us they were having a lot of fun, but I don’t want to freeze the position,” he concluded.
