The episode occurred during the qualifying session for the Sprint race, when Alpine’s Gasly allegedly impeded the Red Bull Racing driver on his fast lap. The situation was recorded by race control and led to both drivers being called to provide clarifications.
The session was complicated for Verstappen, who finished only in eighth position. Meanwhile, Gasly had secured seventh place on the grid for the Sprint race.
