The FIA and all the teams on the grid agree that the new Formula 1 engines still need some adjustments. The decision on what to change will be made shortly after the Chinese GP, with different scenarios currently being considered.

It is common for the teams in the field to disagree with each other, but for the 2026 season, one opinion seems unanimous: regarding the new power unit and especially the battery component.
Already during the pre-season in Bahrain, the teams seemed to have reached the conclusion that the current direction the engines are following does not seem to be the right one.
However, there is still no agreement on exactly what needs to be changed. Therefore, it was decided that the Australian and Chinese GPs would take place first to better evaluate the problems in race and weekend conditions. Meanwhile, four or five possibilities have been raised.

The debates, however, are not limited only to the batteries, the main point of criticism by names like Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, but also extend to the internal combustion engine.
For the teams, the central issue is to what extent these changes should happen. Furthermore, it must be ensured that any solution does not worsen the current situation. It is still not clear if any changes will be applied as early as the Japanese GP.
