Just like his teammate, Stroll had to retire from the race twice, effectively turning the event into an extra testing session to better understand the car and the problems affecting the Honda power unit: “It was the only session I really did during the weekend, so it was good to get some laps in and accumulate kilometers in the car,” he said.
The Canadian driver made it clear that the team’s main challenges are the lack of speed and the car’s low reliability: “We simply don’t have speed and there is no reliability, so that is the biggest problem,” he added.

Thus, the current scenario for Aston Martin appears complicated, especially after Fernando Alonso’s good start, who even entered the points zone on the first lap but had to retire due to a technical problem. Alonso explained that driving the car with this level of vibrations is very unpleasant, and that although Honda has reduced some of the battery vibrations since pre-season in Bahrain, the problem has not yet been fully resolved in the chassis, requiring a different insulation for the battery.
The result in Melbourne highlights that Aston Martin will have intense work to make the car competitive and reliable in the next stages of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
