Ferrari will bring a new wing to the Chinese GP taking place this weekend. The team will use for the first time the ‘Macarena’ rear wing, which is ‘upside-down’ and caught attention during Formula 1 pre-season in Bahrain.

A few weeks ago in Sakhir, the Maranello squad left the paddock surprised with one of its solutions from the new aerodynamic package. In one of the sessions, it presented the wing concept that rotates completely on its axis, changing its angle of attack relative to the airflow.
The concept brings significant aerodynamic advantages as it recreates an effect similar to DRS, but bringing better aerodynamic efficiency.
The solution, which required debates with the FIA to ensure it was within the regulations, was only seen once during the pre-season before Ferrari adopted a more conventional rear wing in Melbourne.

So, according to information from Auroracer, the Italian Formula 1 team will adopt the rotating part, now updated from its experimental version, for this weekend’s Chinese GP.
GPblog investigated the matter and confirms that there are three specifications of that first one seen in Bahrain and that they will be introduced in Shanghai, after the design received final approval from the FIA.
