Allan McNish assessed the situation of the midfield pack in the Formula 1 season and how Audi needs to start thinking about upgrades if it wants to maintain its position in the championship against its rivals.

After 14 rounds contested in the calendar, the German team is in eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship with 17 points scored, the most recent coming from Nico Hülkenberg’s tenth position in Madrid, and four less than Haas, seventh.
However, the executive pointed out how the teams around are advancing, citing Pierre Gasly’s pace in Spain and his pole position in Italy, and how Audi needs to react in F1 2026. “Obviously, other teams have brought updates in different areas and at different times,” he said.

“Ours was in Austria; that was the last time. We have had some small adjustments since then, but, in practice, it was in Austria. We need to keep up the pace, especially because we see that the race performance of drivers like Gasly, for example, was very strong [in Madrid], and his pole position in Monza was too impressive,” he continued.
“But, from this perspective, we need to start bringing new things to the car to be able to maintain the position. I can’t say anything more than that,” he concluded.
