Freddie Slater will have a new opportunity to advance his career after coming very close to the title in Formula 3. The eighteen-year-old Briton was confirmed by Invicta Racing to compete in the 2027 Formula 2 season.

The promotion comes just days after Slater lost the F3 championship in Madrid. In his debut season in the category, the young driver reached the final round still in contention for the title and finished as runner-up with Trident Motorsport.
A member of Audi’s Driver Development Program, Slater had a campaign with one main race win, three pole positions, and eight podiums. The performance, despite losing the title in the final stretch, was enough to secure his rise to the main feeder category before Formula 1.
Invicta Racing will be the Briton’s next destination. The team won the F2 drivers’ and teams’ titles in consecutive seasons, in 2024 and 2025, and Slater will have his first contact with the team during the post-season test, starting preparations for 2027.

The director of Audi’s Driver Development Program, Allan McNish, described the move as a natural step in the young driver’s career: “He had a strong season in Formula 3, fighting for the title until the last round, showing speed, racecraft, and development throughout the year. We are very proud of what Freddie achieved this season and how he has developed along the way,” he said.
Slater also highlighted the learning gained during the year and showed enthusiasm for the next stage: “I learned a lot in Formula 3 this season and feel that I evolved as a driver and as a person throughout the year. Invicta has a great track record in Formula 2, and I can’t wait to start with the team and prepare our campaign together,” he added.
