As many predicted for the weekend, the debut circuit on the calendar had few opportunities for position battles throughout the 57 laps. In fact, several drivers did not hold back their criticism – Gabriel Bortoleto said he “almost fell asleep,” while Arvid Lindblad pointed out that “it was not the most exciting race.”
And for the 2016 Formula 1 champion, one of the culprits is the Spaniard from Williams, who was the circuit ambassador. “Carlos Sainz was the ambassador, so we need to criticize Carlos Sainz,” he said.

“They need to review the track layout for next year and create a good overtaking opportunity. We need that on this track, because it is simply very difficult to overtake. It was something impressive. [Oscar] Piastri against [Franco] Colapinto, for example. Piastri was on new tires and couldn’t pass. And he was much faster. It is simply very difficult to overtake,” he pointed out.
