Fernando Alonso has already dismissed any plans to announce his retirement from Formula 1 this weekend at the Spanish GP on the debut circuit in Madrid.

During the Italian GP, the two-time world champion had already made it clear that he does not intend to make big announcements in the Spanish capital. “To be honest, we are at the back of the grid, so I’m not very worried about this year. If an opportunity arises to score another point, that’s fine. If not, that’s fine too.”
And for the race in Madrid, the Spaniard believes that the AMR26 may fit better with the layout of the new F1 calendar track. “Looking ahead, I think that, of the remaining races, we know there will be weekends where we will struggle and others that will be better. Maybe the next round will be one of those opportunities,” he said.

About the upcoming races, he stated that “I think Vegas will be another one of those weak points that become evident on these long straights, maybe we will lose ground. But there will be other weekends where we can have more fun, maybe in Singapore, Austin or something like that.”
