Aston Martin had an expectedly difficult Australian GP this Sunday (8) in Formula 1. Both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso retired from the race, but the duo praised the mileage accumulated in Melbourne.

During the weekend at Albert Park, the British team has been suffering. A lot of vibration and little battery available for the competitors brought the certainty that the number of laps would have to be limited during the race.
Sure enough, Lance and Fernando were unable to cross the finish line in the 2026 Formula 1 opener. But even so, they praised the mileage achieved.
“It was good to get some kilometers in with the car today, especially after we lost practically all the track practice this weekend. We used the race as a learning session and stopped for several laps to check some things in the garage before returning to the track,” said Lance.

“There is still a lot to improve in terms of performance and reliability, but the laps we managed to do today should give us a better direction for the race in China,” he added.
Meanwhile, Alonso pointed out that “the first two laps were the most fun part of the race for me. We had a good start and finished in P10, which was unexpected. Then, we lost positions and ended up dropping back. We took the car to the pits to check everything and returned to the track before having to retire from the race. China, next weekend, will be another good opportunity to gain mileage and optimize things.”
